Bar One Specialty Steel® is able to supply precisely the steels you require for your individual needs!

Tool Steels

Tool Steel’s suitability is determined by four different criteria. The steel must have a distinctive hardness; resistance to abrasion; resistances at elevated temperatures to deformation, and of course their ability to hold a cutting edge. Our wide range of stock ensures we have the grade required for your application. Call today and allow our friendly account executives give you a quote and we’ll have your steel ready to go!

Stainless Steels

Stainless Steel is the name given to a class of steel where more than 10% of chromium is added to ordinary steel and the surface oxide is transformed – very thin (virtually invisible), it is protective to a wide range of corrosive media. There are over 150 different grades within a variety of types. Milled into coils, sheets, plates, bars, wire or tubing call us at Bar One for all your stainless steel needs!

Alloys

The mixture of the elements iron and carbon create what is known as an alloy. Alloys are much harder and stronger than pure iron and include Chrome Moly quality steel, silicon steel, cast iron, wrought iron and other uses where specialized alloys are needed.

Ductile Iron

In 1943 a new iron is innovated where the graphite is in the form of nodules rather than flakes, as in grey iron, thus inhibiting the formation of cracks and offering the enhanced ductility that gives this particular alloy its name. This action is achieved by adding most commonly magnesium into the melt and allows the use of it in applications such as water and sewer piping, oil well pumps and the automotive industry.

Powdered Metals

Research shows Powder metallurgy has been around since 1200 B.C., yet the modernization of this three stage process has brought us into the space age. Heat Shields for spacecraft reentry into Earth’s atmosphere, ferrites for microwaves, the filament in a light bulb, the linings for friction brakes, and electrical contacts enabled for handling large flows of current all made with powdered metal technology.
